About us
Editorial Policy
This policy sets out who writes and reviews the information on MyMoneyComparison.com, where the facts come from, how often pages are checked, and how our commercial relationships are kept separate from what we publish.
Our principles
What We Promise Every Reader
Six commitments govern everything published on MyMoneyComparison.com. They apply to every guide, comparison page and answer on the site, whatever the product.
Independence comes first
No insurer, broker or advertiser can pay to change what a guide says, or to be described more favourably than the evidence supports.
Someone is accountable
Every page names the person who reviewed it. Their credentials and their professional profile are published so you can check them.
Facts come from named sources
Where we state a rule, a threshold or a figure, it comes from the regulator, from government, or from the policy wordings and broker criteria we work with.
Pages carry a date
Each page shows when it was last reviewed and when it is due to be looked at again, so you can judge how current it is.
Mistakes get corrected, visibly
If we get something wrong, tell us. We correct material errors promptly and note when a page has changed rather than quietly editing it.
We say how we are paid
We are free to use. We explain below how the business earns its money, because you should be able to see where our incentives sit.
Who is behind it
Who Writes and Reviews Our Content
Guides are written by the MyMoneyComparison.com editorial team and reviewed by a named person before publication. We name them because a policy that promises expert review without saying whose is not worth much.
The editorial team
Our writers specialise in UK insurance and personal finance. They work from regulation, policy documents and the acceptance criteria of the brokers on our panel, not from other comparison sites. Writers have no commercial targets attached to what they publish, and no part of their pay or appraisal depends on describing any insurer or broker favourably.
Independent review before publishing
No guide goes live without a second pair of eyes. The reviewer checks that the cover described matches how the products actually work, that any figure is attributed, that nothing reads as advice, and that the page is fair to insurers we do and do not work with.
Outside expertise
For specialist subjects we also take input from the FCA-authorised brokers on our panel, who see what insurers will and will not accept day to day. Their input informs the content. It does not decide it, and no broker sees a guide before it is published.
Where the facts come from
The Sources We Actually Use
Naming a source is more useful than promising reputable ones. These are the places the rules, thresholds and figures on this site come from.
Regulation and law
The Financial Conduct Authority for anything about regulated activity and how firms must behave, and GOV.UK for legal requirements such as minimum insurance, licensing and penalties.
Official statistics and safety guidance
The Department for Transport for vehicle and licensing figures, and the Health and Safety Executive for employer duties, including driving for work.
Insurer and broker documents
Policy wordings, product summaries and the acceptance criteria used by the brokers on our panel. This is how we describe what cover does and does not include.
Our own enquiry data
Anonymised, aggregated information from quote enquiries submitted through this site. Where we publish a figure from it we say the sample size and the period it covers.
We link to the original source wherever one exists, so you can check a claim rather than take our word for it. We do not cite other comparison sites as evidence.
Accuracy
How We Check and Update Pages
Information about insurance goes out of date. These are the checks a page goes through before it is published and the triggers that bring it back for review.
Before a page is published
- Every rule, threshold and figure is traced back to a named source
- Cover descriptions are checked against current policy wordings
- Wording is checked so that information is not presented as advice
- Links are checked, including links to the original sources
- A named reviewer signs the page off
What brings a page back for review
- A scheduled review, at least every six months
- A change in regulation, law or an official threshold
- A change in what insurers or the brokers on our panel will accept
- A reader telling us something looks wrong
- New enquiry data that changes a figure we have published
Independence
Commercial Relationships and What They Do Not Change
MyMoneyComparison.com is an introducer. We do not sell insurance and we do not give advice. We put businesses and drivers in touch with FCA-authorised brokers who can quote for them.
What commercial relationships never affect
- What a guide says about a product, an insurer or a type of cover
- Whether we point out a drawback, an exclusion or a cheaper alternative
- Whether a broker appears in our editorial content
- The pay or appraisal of anyone who writes or reviews our content
How the business is paid
We are paid a commission by brokers when a customer takes out a policy through our platform. There is no fee charged to you for using the comparison service, and the commission paid to us does not add to your premium.
We may receive a commission if we introduce you to a specialist broker best suited to helping you find competitive insurance, in accordance with our terms and conditions. You are free to choose whether you would like a quote, and whether to continue with the quote process.
This is the standard funding model for FCA-authorised insurance comparison platforms in the UK.
AI and automation
How We Use Artificial Intelligence
No UK comparison site we checked says anything about AI in its editorial policy. Since our pages are read by AI answer engines as well as by people, here is our position in plain terms.
What we do use it for
Research assistance, spotting gaps in a guide, suggesting clearer phrasing, checking readability and flagging pages that look out of date. Tools that help a person work, in other words.
What we do not do
We do not publish machine-generated content that no one has checked. We do not use AI to invent statistics, quotes, case studies or reviews. Nothing is published without a person verifying the facts and a named reviewer signing it off.
Responsibility does not transfer to a tool. Whatever helped produce a page, a named person is accountable for what it says.
